Abstract

|
|
Renal cyst puncture has recently been used less frequently because of the availability of more sophisticated imaging techniques, such as ultrasonography and CT. It is currently performed only for specific indications including diagnosis of an infected cyst, or malignancy and, lesions considered indeterminate on sonography and CT, and therapy of painful or obstructing cysts. Simple aspiration of renal cysts is frequently recurred, so now a combination of aspiration and sclerotherapy is widely used. 1 present 29 renal cysts in 23 patients treated simple aspiration and a combination of aspiration and sclerotherapy with alcohol. The pretreatment and follow-up sonograms were compared for recurrence of cysts.
